Into the Fire

Passionate thoughts about the world of writing and the Power of God

Coming next week on this blog, I will feature the answers to a simple question about a complex topic which raises its head repeatedly on writing sites all over the net. When the subject of Christian publishing comes up, opinions surge to the shore of commentary and controversy like the 30 foot waves off Kauai’s North Shore. Sometimes the words and attitudes get snarky, other times the opinions are ill-informed, but most of the writing crowd tend to get worked up about the condition of publishing in the CBA and express their thoughts, hopes, confusion, and/or delusions with the industry in an intelligent and respectful manner.

You will here from people who’ve experienced CBA up close and personal. Some of them have requested anonymity. Their concerns might seem like a repeat of others you’ve either felt or observed, but these comments are coming from those who’ve been inside the production of Christian books.

If you want to prepare for the subject matter, you might want to go here and read what commentary sparked the latest wildfire.

I think it’s only fair to give my perspective before I give the floor to the professionals, but I’ll save that for Monday. I’m expecting to start their posts on Wednesday, and they will require more than one day.

Father, you know the hearts and minds of your writers. You know their desires, their causes, their inspirations, hopes, and dreams. Better than they do. Better than I know my own. Help us all, Lord, to represent you in all we do and to be obedient and content in the journey and with the results. Take us where you want us to go. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
