Friends, most of you know I detest self-promotion, so for this final gift suggestion I’ve decided to ask you to pray about the possibility of giving The Famous One to those relatives and/or friends who might somehow benefit from or be blessed to read Joey Parr’s story. Most of you know this novel is in no way written for the lovers of prairie romances and bonnet books, murder mysteries, or speculative fiction such as fantasy or science-fiction. Nor is it for those readers who feel offended when reading about the conduct of the lost. No. This novel is for those who search for love but have trouble discovering what it looks like, feels like, and acts like. This story is for readers who’ve experienced the emptiness resulting from trying the lifestyle the world offers. This book gives the reader a picture of a lonely young man from a broken home who unexpectedly becomes a film star and continues his search for truth, love, and a close family. This is the redemptive story of one person's life–a guy who struggled with his passions and finally . . . you'll have to read it to find out what.
From the writing standpoint, it’s told as a fictional biography beginning with the omniscient point of view but gradually moving to third person.
Written for adults, as are all of my novels, this story has been enjoyed by both male and female readers. I’m blessed to express the novel was endorsed by thriller writer Robert Liparulo in spite of our differences in genre and style.
So. You might’ve checked Amazon.com to find the price of this novel and been surprised to see it costs $17.15 for a new book. The full retail price is $21.99. Let me explain the reason for that. If you take your average novel and open it, you’ll find a lot of “white” framing the text and between the sentences. The “open” template is usually used for the common word counts of 80-100,000 words for most (CBA) novels. The Famous One is over 141,000 words at 364 pages in the larger trim size of 6”X 9” with a tight template—in other words with very little “white” on the pages. More words, more story.
My offer to you? You can buy The Famous One from me directly via personal check or USPS Money Order for $15.00 including “Media Mail” shipping for US buyers. Keep in mind Media Mail can take up to two weeks time but usually arrives in four or five days. Autographed if you’d like. Just leave a comment, I'll do the the rest.
This concludes my 2010 Christmas in October suggestions for books. Hope you found some valuable ideas for gift-giving.
Lord, I belong to you. Everything I own is yours. Do what you will. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
