Discernment. A basic instruction for the Christian. Constant and demanding in the past, present, and future as sin wraps its ugly arms around this country playing the scorned lover of our flesh. Both taunting and seductive, our enemy dances with us to the tunes of meshing lust and romance, lies and truths, fiction and facts, wickedness and goodness. Can you see it clearly? Not always. Lines are blurred, feelings soar and dive, scriptures test, and trials bring both success and failure in judgment.
I've observed, listened, read, studied, commented, and even apologized for the expression of my opinions at times. I've seen the gamut of vitriolic emotions and the demonstration of male and female hysteria in this current political arena. I've heard lies, absurdities, cruelty, and mistakes. I've recognized bias and stubbornness and ridiculous stances which ultimately will count for nothing.
So. In the midst of all the rhetoric, all the citing of agendas, the confusion, the hatred, the commands and demands, where is "Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name"?
Right here where He's always been. Right now in the present as always. Right there tomorrow too. And back then when things seemed equally crazy but somehow were not quite as.
So do we have "eyes to see" and "ears to hear"? Do we discern the good from the evil? Do we have a choice between "evils"? Are our positions in line with our Lord's? Are we hearing His voice above all others? Are we heeding His instructions before all others stake their claims on our decisions? Do we realize how much prayer is needed to salvage not only a nation but the souls at risk within it? Are we willing to sacrifice our time and energy to pray through the chaos and rubble of destruction? Are we prepared to stand for God and country in the spiritual realm where the evil and holy forces war to interfere with our "ears to hear"? Where are we in the battle?
God, we're a desperate nation, hanging by the thinnest of ties to the country built around you. We're truly desperate for you. Remember your remnant, Father. We plead in the Name of Jesus, Amen.
