As an author: a) Creating true-to-life characters b) telling tough-topic stories with truth and grace.
As a reader: a) Drawing me into their story world quickly b) Creating relatable characters.
    What are your answers, Nicole?

I would agree with your self-exam, Bren. You’re very good at capturing the family dynamic and building upon it.
    Me: Character development; dialogue.
Reader: Also character development, dialogue are critical to hold my interest. Although, I have to admit these tend to get modified a bit depending on the genre.
Thanks for participating, Bren. Always enjoy your commentary.

I honestly don’t know what my strengths are. Maybe dialogue is one of them. I do know what I like to see in the mystery authors I read. The thing that keeps me coming back book after book is the ability to craft a main character I want to know. Second is an author who is aware of the bigger world around–especially the spiritual world. Bodies drop left and right in so many mysteries, yet the the afterlife and God, or even good vs. evil, are never discussed. Strange.

If I may? Karin, I think two of your strengths are in your character development and sharp plotting. Dialogue is definitely good.
Crafting a good main character is essential and agree it’s very disappointing in the general market when so much danger or death occurs, and no one even hints at a faith element.
Thanks, Karin, for answering and for retweeting!
