Into the Fire

Passionate thoughts about the world of writing and the Power of God

Most of us would agree that a good character must be present in a novel to make it worthwhile reading. Just as there have been iconic film stars of old that still get recognition from black and white photos of them, characters in novels have gained the same familiarity with readers.

Many readers stick with one or two genres in their fiction reading. Others love to experience all kinds of genres and eras. I would be willing to say most readers can tell you who some of their favorite characters are from the novels they've read.

Do you have some absolute favorite characters from the novels you've read?

Here are just two of my many favorites:

Easy to guess this one from the thriller genre: Mitch Rapp of course. Created by the late, great Vince Flynn

From the love story/romance genre (other than my own): Roman Velasco created by Francine Rivers

Care to name a few of yours and the genre where they appear?

Father, thank you for the incredible gifts and talents you've shared with your people. What a joy to read what they've written. Thank you is never enough. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
