Devoted Vince Flynn/Mitch Rapp readers, who went back in time with Vince to his prequels American Assassin and Kill Shot, watched Mitch fall in love with the gorgeous Greta Ohlmeyer. Don Bentley decided there needed to be some kind of resolution to that segment of his life.
Multiple conflicts are happening between Latvia and Russia, and Rapp is being blamed for killings he didn’t commit. Acting DCI Stansfield is at war with Congressional Committee members and someone is leaking classified information to the Russians.
There are necessary targets to neutralize in multiple locations, but an experience in an art museum with Greta leads Rapp to do what was once the unthinkable to him: enlist the help of his former instructor Stan Hurley.
Stan was more than ready to assist and with his boatload of information and sources, the two of them set out for Tunisia to get even more.
Meanwhile back in DC, Stansfield sends the only person he truly trusts (Irene, Rapp’s handler) to the Moscow Station to evaluate the condition of the staff and “leadership” at the US Embassy there. Events happen quickly upon her arrival with Irene given an unceremonious message to relay to Stansfield that reveals an old score to be settled.
There are multiple angles going on in this story – hard-hitting enough to keep the reader engaged and working hard to keep up. They all come together eventually.
The Epilogue of Denied Access is one of the finest conclusions I’ve ever read. Before I go on, I will say in all honesty I’ve read thousands of novels from some of “the Classics” to a few that were waste-of-words drivel. Don Bentley positively nails this epilogue by capturing and revealing the one and only REAL Mitch Rapp.
The story is great, but the Epilogue is true excellence.
Father, please continue to bless Don and his family. May he always look to you for his direction and protection and continue to use the multiple gifts you’ve given him. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
