Favorite movies. Maybe not all time but some of your absolute favorites. Name as many as you want, even made for TV movies if you like. Here are mine (not necessarily in order):
.POTC “The Curse of the Black Pearl”
.POTC “Dead Man’s Chest”
.POTC “At World’s End”
.”What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?”
.”Benny and Joon”
(Yes, you’re seeing a trend here.)
.”Chocolat”
.”Blow”
.”Edward Scissorhands”
.”Finding Neverland”
.”Crash” (Tough to watch but a superb movie.)
.”Sahara” (C’mon, it was fun.)
.”The Magic of Ordinary Days” (A Hallmark movie.)
.”Breach”
.”Bourne Supremacy”
.”Walk the Line”
.”Dante’s Peak”
.”Seabiscuit”
.”The Notebook” (Minus a few unnecessary scenes and a couple of lines.)
.”Big Fish”
.”The Passion of the Christ”
.”Cinderella Man”
.”Pride and Prejudice” (With Keira Knightley)
.”The Interpreter”
.”Remember the Titans”
.”Blow Up” (A very long time ago.)
You will see gaping holes where “Gladiator”, “Braveheart”, “Master and Commander”, and “The Patriot” probably should be, but those are viewed regularly in my house and are favorites of my husband and son.
One quick note about some of these films . . . In a few of these the language is terrible, and I regret that. Just as in writing, I believe you can elicit the same endeavors/responses/attitudes etc. without a bunch of profanity or graphic sexual scenes, for that matter. It takes some doing, but it can be done. I made a few exceptions to see these films for reasons I won’t bother to explain now.
Father, I pray that those in your kingdom who are called to create films would receive their guidance and direction from you and you alone. I pray for the means to create those films that you ordain to be made. I pray for expertise at every level of the process. I pray for your anointing upon your people in the film industry. Help them to honor you. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
