Into the Fire

Last Saturday on this blog I featured writer Mark Harbeson’s excerpt from his WIP, his first novel entitled Samaritan. He was the benefactor of the first “guest” appearance on my “Saturday Sample . . .” posts. However, I didn’t give him a proper introduction as I’m doing now because it was a spur of the moment idea which he agreed to do, and we put it together rather quickly. I’ve had the privilege of reading 21 chapters of Mark’s book which he is trying to finish while being a full time engineer, a husband, and father to three children under the age of six. After you take a look at Mark’s writing, this Saturday on the exciting date of 07/07/07 I will feature Rebecca Luella Miller’s excerpt from her fantasy novel trilogy entitled The Lore of Efrathah. Most of you have seen Becky’s impressive blog and perhaps have read the first chapter from the first book posted there. This will be from the second chapter. Becky’s been a major player in the fantasy fiction blog tours, has interviewed several authors, has done book reviews, and has captured the attention of various editors with her provocative and insightful posts. Many unpublished authors who are seriously working toward crafting a novel don’t often get much exposure. Yes, most of us have blogs, but some of us are not “well connected” and we struggle out here in relative obscurity, trying to be productive and thoughtful in our writing efforts. Since I’d read Mark’s work, I wondered if he would mind sharing a bit of it on my blog. I couldn’t offer him a lot of exposure, but I thought maybe I could offer him a different set of viewers.

With Becky it’s a little different. She does have a network, and she’s established some recognition, having attended Mt. Hermon’s conference more than once. She’s got writing credentials and has worked hard on this novel. Why not feature some more of her efforts?

Now to those of you who are serious about your writing, have completed, or are significantly engaged in, your novel and would appreciate a little exposure, I’m offering you a place on my next “Saturday Sample . . . “.
