Into the Fire

Add George Clooney to the highly overrated actor list. While George Clooney is a handsome man, he never stops being himself. He’s always the same. If his role doesn’t play on his self-deprecating persona, it plays on the one-dimensional man on a mission with the serious, angry, bland, or lovesick expressions, none of which require any depth of soul.

Thinking there are so many endless and, well . . . needless POVs on writing novels. Including my own. If people like a book, why analyze it to death? Let the brainiacs have their field days with dissecting the brilliance of a particular writer. Let the fluff lovers effusively render a chick lit story as “Awesome!” Let the action lovers cheer as they read of the final explosion. Let the tears surge as a romance concludes, well, romantically.

Writing, while a skill, can also be a spiritual call. If it is for you, fulfill it. Hold nothing back. Write from your heart. Honor your Lord with your words and stories.

Worship God! Always. In all ways. Remember, recall, recite what Jesus has done, is doing, and will do for you. Every Day.

Seek after more of the Holy One. Don’t settle for mediocrity in faith. Pray without ceasing. Listen without reservation. Obey without regret. God is WITH you. His love doesn’t depend on your inabilities, your failings, your faults. Thank God. He loves you in spite of you. He loves you even when you lean toward evil. He cares enough to caution you with His Spirit, to cover you with His Blood, to forgive you when you truly ask Him to.

Those who know our God intimately through His Son and Spirit are blessed beyond measure. We are children of the King of Kings. We have purpose. There is a plan for us. We cannot diminish our standing, from paupers to priests. Sharers of the Gospel. Proclaimers of Truth. A noble cause for ignoble people. How generous of our Lord to include us, to desire to direct us, to give us His Seal and lend us His Authority and the Power of His Name.
