All of us must die. Thanks to sin in our blood, perfection on earth is not attainable. Thanks to sin in our nature, we deserve to die. Thanks be to Jesus Christ who gave up heavenly perfection to demonstrate His perfection on the corrupted planet of Earth.
Because of the Lamb of God sacrificed for our redemption, we will one day live in the midst of perfection and be totally and eternally cleansed from all of our unrighteousness. Though we have obligations and responsibilities remaining on this earth, loved ones we sometimes think we’re living for, inescapably fun things awaiting us, professional objectives, family joys and demands, sometimes our regenerated spirits long for the peace of heaven where the tears no longer flow, the mourning ceases, the aches and pains and diseases and handicaps are past, and we are who we were truly meant to be.
He came to live in order to die. And in our own way so do and did we.
I know it’s Christmas Eve. And I’m truly joyful. I rejoice profusely at Christmas—every year it touches my heart anew. “Bah, humbug” does not exist in my vocabulary. “Merry Christmas!” is constantly on my lips and in my heart. I praise the Lord Jesus Christ!
We cannot ignore that He came to die. That precious child in the manger was destined to suffer atrocious suffering FOR US. He was willing. Willing to become a child, to live and to die to rescue a doomed creation—even as He later preached that we must become “like children” to know Him. Trusting, faith-filled, and open to Truth.
I hope if you stop by this blog today, you will fill your heart with His joy and His peace and capture a bit of the glory of eternity in your heart as you celebrate the gift of Jesus.
