Into the Fire

Passionate thoughts about the world of writing and the Power of God

Do you have a preference? Sometimes we prefer one over the other, other times we really don’t care. How about these?

Cursive or Printing . . . if printing, all capitals, all lower case, or a proper mixture? (I do both writing and printing, but mostly printing in all caps)

Films or Movies . . . or do you refer to them as both? (Both)

Novels or Non-fiction . . . or both? (Novels)

Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner . . . or all three? (Hmm. Lunch or Dinner)

Romances or Thrillers . . . seems obvious—but both or neither? (Both, but only certain kinds of romances.)

Drama or Comedy . . . or an equal amount of each? (Drama)

Limbaugh or Hannity . . . or both or neither? (Limbaugh, but I don’t mind Hannity.)

Pen or Pencil . . . or both? (Mostly pen, but both occasionally.)

Longhand or Computer . . . or both? (Mostly computer anymore which surprises me.)

Giving or Receiving (honestly!) . . . or both? (I prefer giving, but I do enjoy receiving, too.)

Milk or Dark Chocolate . . . or both or neither? (Milk)

Chocolate or Caramel . . . or both or mixed or neither? (Mixed, I think.)

Chocolate or Vanilla Ice Cream . . . or both or neither? (Vanilla but not crazy about ice cream.)

Chocolate or White Cake . . . or both or neither? (White cake.)

Frosting or No Frosting . . . or either? (Frosting)

Mystery/Suspense or Lits (Chick, Mom, etc.) . . . or both or neither? (Mystery/Suspense)

Coca Cola or Pepsi . . . or both or neither? (The real thing: Coca Cola)

Coffee or Tea . . . or both or neither? (Tea)

Hemingway or Faulkner . . . or both or neither? (Neither, but Hemingway over Faulkner any day.)

Stephen King (novels) or Ted Dekker . . . or both or neither? (Neither, because I haven’t read either of them. [Soon to change.] )

Karen Kingsbury or Francine Rivers . . . or both or neither? (Francine Rivers’ Redeeming Love is one of the best books I’ve ever read, and I love some of her other novels, but I haven’t read her historicals. I prefer Karen Kingsbury’s earlier novels to her present ones. Can’t answer this one, I guess.)

Secular or Christian Fiction . . . or both? (Christian fiction)

Fantasy or Thriller . . . or both or neither? (Thriller)

Writing or Reading . . . or both or neither? (I guess I now prefer writing, but reading is right up there so close.)

Historical or Contemporary . . . or both or neither? (Contemporary)

How ‘bout you?

Father, thank you for all the offerings you’ve given us. So many things to choose from, such incredible variety. I ask, Lord, that when the choices are held up to what you prefer for us, we would choose what you desire for us, in the Name of Jesus.

*Please continue to pray for Kristy Dykes.*

My writing is a mixture of printing and cursive. I never just print.
    Movies
Both novels and non-fiction, but I go through the novels faster.
Usually all three meals, but I eat breakfast late.
I don’t care for romances or thrillers.
    I love drama and comedy.
I don’t do talk radio at all.
    Usually a pen.
    Computer, not longhand.
I prefer giving. But receiving is nice, too.
I don’t love cake, but I prefer white to chocolate.
Frosting of course! That’s what makes the cake edible. But then, I’ve had some good bundt cakes that aren’t frosted.
I love mysteries, but not really suspense. Agatha Christy type and cozy mysteries. I’ve read a few lits that I like.
Coke or Pepsi – depends on what I’m having it with.
Coffee about once a week and tea several times per week.
Never read either Hemingway or Faulkner
I haven’t read King, but would like to read The Stand or The Green Mile. Didn’t like the Decker book I read.
Francine Rivers. Love her! Not crazy about Kingsbury.
I love both Christian and secular fiction.
I like fantasy, but am choosy about it.
    Reading over writing.
    Historical
    This was fun!

    Movies
    Novels
    Lunch
    Thrillers
    Comedy
Limbaugh-no contest. (I could do Hannity’s job when I’m sick. All he does is regurgitate what Rush says and he does a poor job of that.)
    Pen
    Computer
    Giving (to myself.) 🙂
    Milk & Dark
    Chocolate
    Chocolate
    Chocolate
    Frosting
Suspense (Mystery should not be lumped in with Suspense. I hate Mystery)
    Water
    Water
    Hem & Faulk = Never
    I haven’t read any King.
    Karen or Francine – Neither.
    Secular(mainly Koontz) & Christian.
    Depends.
Writing over Reading (unless it’s Koontz.)
    No Historicals for me.

Thanks for participating, Kay and Dayle. Interesting what we prefer, huh?
