Why do we insist on basing our faith on the evidence of someone else’s or their lack of it?

Why don’t we realize the effects of sin? That it stretches to every crevice of this earth, that it is incorporated into our DNA . . .

Why can’t we seem to understand the power of prayer? Our Blood-soaked prayers are “effective” in the Name of Jesus. Yes, sometimes the answer is no. Sometimes it’s wait. Sometimes those answers come swiftly and in magnificent ways. Yet, we pray infrequently and often with haphazard faith. The power of asking a willing God for assistance of any kind is never ignored by Him. Listening is prayer, too.

Spiritual warfare—does that mean anything to anyone? “Let’s not give the devil too much credit.” How’s that been workin’ for ya? You have a real enemy who hates you, wants to kill you, will go to any length to destroy your faith, your hope, your dreams, your family . . . and you don’t want to give him too much credit? Storm the gates of hell before he topples your temple.

Father, help us to listen to your voice, to spend time with you, to take you seriously, to engage in spiritual warfare and quit being lazy and incompetent, easy-going, ineffective Christians. Please help us, Lord, to serve you and bring you glory. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
