Into the Fire

Passionate thoughts about the world of writing and the Power of God

Technology is what it is. Ever escalating under the imaginations of those who envision intricate inventions some of us would never contemplate in a lifetime. Those things which provide real usefulness increase and improve. Those things which are just more gadgetry usually diminish.

This country provides the opportunities for inventive minds to excel. In virtually every arena of creating from defense to beauty products, Americans are participating in finding ways to make new and better things. Other countries engage in the same efforts, but depending on their resources and their intentions, their focuses might not be as diversified as this country’s are. Most all countries’ leaderships focus on possessing the latest technologies, no matter how primitive their people might be. Their wealth and strength determine how much technology can be secured.

In spite of the radical Islamists’ desire for a people who submits to a religious state which dominates women and adheres to a primitive existence under a strict legalism, the leaders of the movement have millions of dollars and the highest forms of technological equipment. They criticize the “western” ideals, calling us the Great Satan, but only when it doesn’t apply to their munitions and computer technologies. The hypocrisy is unequaled.

To assume that their ideals have any basis in negotiation is absurd. We are to be eliminated, crushed, and totally destroyed. They will use their great wealth to purchase whatever will allow them to accomplish this goal. Diplomacy infers there is a way to find common ground. That is why it has never worked with certain enemies.

Russia is still “the bear”, proving they have no intention of remaining a self-contained and satisfied country by invading the republic of Georgia. China demonstrates time and time again that its people are a means to an end, biding their time while increasing their power and forming alliances with others as untrustworthy as themselves.

We know the world is on a collision course. Depending on your theology, at some point evil will temporarily overwhelm this earth. A remnant of God’s own will survive the horrors to be perpetrated in that “great and horrible day of the Lord”. The devastation will eventually be complete, and God will create a new heaven and a new earth. It’s only a matter of time. A time only God knows. I’m convinced our prayers for the lost stave off the wrath.

This is the point: stand up for your country. Like church, it is imperfect because it is composed of people. Good and bad. Yes, mistakes have been made, overcome, made again, and overcome again. Thanks to the mercy of God. We are a blessed people, and we should be thankful, hopeful, resilient, and repentant. We should treasure life, freedom, and the gifts God has given us. It’s a privilege to live here. We should recognize personal weaknesses and submit them to our Lord, seeking a heart for obedience.

Above all else, if you’re a Christian, remember who you are. Pray hard. Work hard. Live free. Thank God for what you have.

Father, you know the times and dates of that terrible day. Thank you for your divine provision and protection. Maranatha. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
