Into the Fire

Passionate thoughts about the world of writing and the Power of God

The thirst is killing me. Dry sand in my mouth. Grit in my teeth. Tongue swells. I lisp.

It’s the lies, you know. Choking me. Hearing them stabs and burns like the pristine blades of a butcher.

Kneeled, buckled over. Stomach compressed, aching. I cry.

No tears come. They vacated my eyes. So many came before. Empty.

Voice of parchment. Frail and torn. Silenced.

Wicked sounds in structured sentences. Senseless. Logic flees. Hidden by force.

Official destruction. Stifling. Sweat trickles down, then dries quickly.

Breath and hope surge.

Met with flames and fumes. Hot and arid. Lies make smoke. Choking.

Smell the water? A mist sprays over me, invisible. Cooling.

Truth.

Jesus, you are the Way, the Truth, and the Life. You are what every man needs, every human creation. You are Freedom, Love, Redemption. Thank you, God.
