Into the Fire

Passionate thoughts about the world of writing and the Power of God

So. What are you reading now?

I’ll start:

Transfer of Power by Vince Flynn (I am now seriously addicted to his novels. Love Mitch Rapp. Love this author’s perspective and insights. Can overlook the language for the concepts.)

Okay. Next in line?

Too Close to Home by Lynette Eason

Reviews to follow.

God, keep me close to your heart. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

I just finished my first Ted Dekker book, In the Blink of an Eye. If it wasn’t for my church book club, I would never have picked up this book. However, it was very good. It reads like a movie-alot of action that crosses the line of realism but none-the-less entertaining. And he is very good at ‘paper’ car chases. The power of prayer is explored in this book, and Dekker does an excellent job. He has written many books and I look forward to reading another.

Hey, Lynn. So glad to have you here, and thanks for your contribution.
I’ve read three Dekker novels: Adam, Kiss, and Boneman’s Daughters. My favorite of the three was Adam. I lean toward thrillers, and I didn’t know where to start with his many novels. Thank you for the recommendation of In the Blink of an Eye. Love it when the power of prayer is addressed in story form.
(Just a caution in case some readers get squeamish with issues of violence in their reading. Adam and Boneman’s Daughters contain some very real and ugly stuff, so I don’t recommend them for readers who are sensitive to those things which border on “horror”.)
Thanks again, Lynn, for stopping by and taking the time to leave a comment.

Nicole, Blink is one of my favorites. In the Blink of an Eye is a re-issue with some changes that have caused some to question Ted’s motives. While I haven’t read the newer version I am a little concerned with what I’ve been told. This reminds me to re-post a review of Blink.
I’m reading Dekker’s Sinner. This is his last chance with me. While I love Three and Blink and the Circle trilogy is really good and I’m not even into that sort of thing. Unfortunately, I’m not a big fan of his latest ones.
Next in line is Bad Ground by Dale Cramer and about 20 more in my pile.

Interesting information, Dayle. I really didn’t like Boneman’s Daughters. And I understand when we give authors a “last chance” to convince us to keep reading their work.
(I’m afraid to count the novels on my TBR pile.)
