Passionate thoughts about the world of writing and the Power of God

The T-shirt is dark grey with a black sketched anatomically correct heart in the front and center. The words SPREAD THE LOVE appear on the lower right portion of the sketched heart in red. You can win it by leaving a comment on any post through the day I review Immanuel’s Veins by Ted Dekker.

Just add “T-shirt” at the end of your comment so I can assign you a number. Dayle and WordLily are running head and head. Whoever wins will receive the T-shirt courtesy of Thomas Nelson Publishers.

I love the T-shirt idea! Immanuel’s Veins is an excellent book and is endorsed by some great people coughs surreptitiously Dekker is better known for thrillers, but his allegories are always profound.

So, Josh, do you have one or are you entering?
And an endorsement from you is gold, my friend.

I really, really want to win.
    (I know, profound, eh?)

I’m looking forward to your review Nicole.
I’m a former big fan of Dekker. His recent books have turned me off though. So much so that I’ve pretty much decided not to read anymore.
Maybe this can turn it around.

    You two are hilarious.
Dayle, I know you haven’t liked his recent books, and I’m no authority on Ted’s plethora of novels. Adam was my favorite of those I’ve read (which are recent). I’m still waiting for the book which is disappointing. Supposedly they were mailed Monday, but it’s Saturday, and I don’t have mine yet.

I’m curious, Dayle, which Dekker books you’ve read.
I haven’t read them all, but I have read:
    Thr3e
    Blink of an Eye
    Circle Series (all 4 titles)
    The Bride Collector
and (most of) Burn (still in the middle of it)
I much prefer the Circle books to all the others, although Blink of an Eye was so different from all the others, and very good. I’m definitely looking forward to Forbidden.
And yes, Nicole, it’s certainly disappointing that you haven’t received your copy yet!

Bonnie’s assured me she’ll go to battle to make sure I get the book. I’ve put off reading others because I thought it was coming this week. I could’ve easily read another book this week. (An escape from writing on my own novel. Bad girl.)

I know the reading calendar, and when something messes up sometimes I end up not getting anything done. 😦

WordLily, I should give you two extra T-shirt numbers for making me smile.
Yes, silly and ridiculous, but I’m so restless when the reading is off! I should be writing instead . . .

    Hey, I wouldn’t turn ’em down … :p
You should go write now, though.

Should for sure. Didn’t for sure, too. I’ll get back to it.

    Word Lily,
I loved the original Blink (not the re-issue),
    Three, and the Circle trilogy.
I wasn’t crazy about Saint, Showdown, Obsessed, Adam, and boneman. I don’t usually say this but I own about 14 Dekker books so I think he’ll forgive me:: I thought Skin was pretty bad. Really not worth the time to read.
Was Green a good addition to the circle trilogy? I’m a little worried it’ll take away from the others.

I didn’t like BoneMan’s Daughters either, Dayle. There was one or two likable peripheral characters, but the rest: nothing to like, no one to really root for. I will say this: that was one creepy villain. That Noxema thing was grotesque.
