Into the Fire

Passionate thoughts about the world of writing and the Power of God

Unbelievably to most, our football season is not over. We’ll take the extension any way we can get it. Since it’s been a difficult year with little hope of a victory, it’s sweet for the team, the backup quarterback, the coaches, and many disgruntled fans. Next week we could easily (and expected to) be eliminated, but today gave a nod to the season. They stepped up, they played well, and for all the ugly games that preceded today’s game, thank you for winning this one!

2010 is a wrap and January barrels along with the third already upon us. Strap in and get ready to roll. Time waits for none of us.

The first Monday of 2011 . . . what does it mean to you?

God, you are so gracious to me. Thank you for all of it, Lord. Keep me straight with you. You’re all I’m livin’ for . . . In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

It’s a good story, but I feel bad for Tampa. 10-6 and they’re not in.
Although if the game mattered and our running backs quit getting hurt, Saints would have won yesterday keeping them at 9 wins.
I’d rather our boys have a bye week, but a scrimmage against the Hawks might help. 🙂

Not all the teams who beat us badly are in. We lost a lot of games and played poorly in those. But we won our division in the end and gave a good rookie quarterback a taste of playoff caliber football in a stadium that can’t be equaled in loudness.
I’m just glad the Saints have to come here. They couldn’t ask for a better opponent to start their bid for the return to the Super Bowl, but playing here is no fun for the opposition. Distance to travel and our fan support truly give us a whisper of hope. They’ve beat us before so they know what they’re facing, but we played them competitively in the second half in spite of the final score. Usually, throughout this season we’ve beat ourselves. Like I said, the Saints are one of the few teams I don’t hate. Yet. 😉

I’ve always liked Seattle. I hate the new york teams, Dallas, Philly, etc. But I used to like Shawn Alexander and Matt. I was also a big Steve Largent fan.
The Saints are injured this year. They can either dominate or win or lose by one play. Seattle can win this. Improbable but possible.

Improbable but possible is true. Dayle, I don’t know if you remember, but Jim Zorn’s testimony is what the Lord used to get me to Him. Loved “Zorn to Largent!” Very exciting young team.
Like you: very few teams I actually like. And boy-oh-boy do we understand injuries. Our offensive line has only had the same lineup three times and only two consecutively. Plus Hasselbeck, Obumanu, and so many more have missed games. Lotsa hurts goin’ on.

p.s.: I’m having a hard time pulling for the Hawks now, though. Not a big fan of Pete carrol.

I think if you have/had the opportunity to hear his side of the USC “scandal”, etc., it would clarify some things–if that’s the reason you don’t like him. He’s an upbeat guy who recognizes his own failings as a previous NFL coach. Doesn’t seem to be a bad person.
