Into the Fire

Passionate thoughts about the world of writing and the Power of God

Some people can tell you their favorite anything the moment you ask. I can do that with a few things. Like pop. Coke is it! No question. No "But I also like . . ." Coca Cola is my favorite pop. Period.

However, do not ask me to name my favorite novel, movie, or song. Because there isn't a favorite. There are many. Multiples. In fact, I think for novels my list of favorites would exceed a Top Twenty. Songs too. Movies: maybe not.

How 'bout you? Is there a single favorite in the novel, film, and song categories for you?

God, so many wonderful creations. I'm in awe of you. Always. And desperate for you. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

In novel and film, yes, I can easily pick a stand out winner for each category.
For songs, no can do. Too many musical styles for one thing, and too many good songs within each of those styles.

I can’t choose a favorite either. There are too many variables, different genres, etc. to consider. I could probably give you a top 10 in books & movies, but not music. In music, I may have a favorite of the moment–right now it’s Kutless’ AMAZED–but tomorrow I may hear a new song that will replace AMAZED.

Wow, Brenda J., “easily pick out a winner” for a book and a film! Impressive. But not music. I get that. Feel free to share your “favorites”.
Bren, I’m resigned to not being able to pick that few as favorites in books. I wonder if I could limit it to 10 with films. And, no, music spans too many years of listening, falling in love to and with music, etc. Benchmarks defined or celebrated by and with music. Right now my favorite is Hallelujah done by Chris Botti and Mark Whitfield (Tuesday’s post). And it isn’t even new or the original version.
