Into the Fire

Passionate thoughts about the world of writing and the Power of God

Five of the stranger things I've done in my life:

Rode in the back of a State Patrol car without being a criminal. I needed a ride from one town to another, and that's how I got it.

Interviewed for my job at the racetrack in high heels and a mini dress.

Went to London to meet David Hemmings (British actor). Called his manager and got in to see him. David Hemmings was in the USA getting married. His manager Nigel invited me and my friend to a party, and we went. On the last day of our nearly three month sojourn to Europe, I got to see David Hemmings who greeted me with a "Good morning".

Danced on a table in a bowling alley lounge on a dare.

Bought those black calf-leather boots that went all the way up. Loved those boots.

As you might have figured out, these incidents were all before I met the Lord Jesus Christ. It's so good to know He loved and loves me anyway.

These don’t sound strange to me. It just sounds like life lived. Part of the shaping of who we are and become.
I can’t think of anything particularly strange I’ve done either. The closest I can think to come is that on my last day of high school, I rode my horse home from school. I’m so glad I grew up in the country. I think city living warps people’s brains and most don’t even realize it. I know it has warped mine!
Also took a wagon train ride once over a long weekend, but it was a small party so we ended up chucking the clunky wagon for riding horseback everywhere. Ah, the days when I had no overhead and could afford vacation…
I wouldn’t trade any of those things.

I don’t see anything wrong with a Christian dancing on a table. Depends on the style of dance I suppose. 🙂

Brenda, I dreamed of that kind of thing when I was a young city girl. I loved horses from the time I knew what they were. Sounds like a wonderful youth.
I don’t either, Jess. However, I wasn’t doing any “lewd” dancing, but I definitely was not a Christian at the time. ;P

Nope, nothing wrong with any of that. 🙂 As a matter of fact, you made me smile. I’m afraid I have nothing near that exciting from my life … I have to write books to get any kind of spice.

Ha! Bren, you made me smile too! “Exciting” can be a matter of taste. 😉
