Into the Fire

Passionate thoughts about the world of writing and the Power of God

It isn't going to happen – as far as I know – but if I ever wrote a non-fiction book, this would be the title:

Debunking the Bad Boy Myth

And I would follow it up with this title:

Good Guys Finishing First

So. There you have them.

Father, if only people knew your love for them . . . Everything would change. For the better. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

I love em. One problem: the bad boy myth is not a myth.

Okay, you can’t stop there! What’s the impetus behind those titles?

Ha! I’ve known a lot of “bad boys”, Brenda. I married two of them. In their hearts they weren’t bad boys. They were lost like we all are without Jesus.
Dayle, I would differentiate between the perception of bad boys and those individuals who embrace bad things, evil. “Bad boys” aren’t always what they seem.

You know who likes “bad boys”? GIRLS. Not women, girls. I don’t know a grown-up, mature woman who likes bad boys. And the “good guys”? Part of the fault lies with them–especially when they’re young and foolish–because they’re often attracted to girls (maturity-wise), not women. Sigh.

You make some good points, Karin. I was only 21 when I married the first time. Neither of us were ready to be unselfish or mature. I wasn’t that far along maturity-wise when I married the second time, but the Lord found me and was exceedingly patient with me and then did the same for my husband. We’ve been together for 38 years, married for 34 in September. Mostly grown up now. 😉 AND, my husband is a “good” boy now. My youngest son who isn’t “young” anymore is the really good guy, waiting for the right girl God has for him to appreciate and share his devotion to the Lord and his desire to love with his whole heart.
