So sorry, Pretty Boy. You're a great one. I'm sorry you couldn't add The Triple Crown to your amazing record. Hope you heal completely, but if you never race again, may your progeny run just like you.

I'll Have Another: a classic race horse.

 

Lord, you know we know the heartbreak of injuries to race horses first hand. Please watch over this horse and touch those hearts who are broken over his injury. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

    Ack! I hadn’t heard. What a disappointment. Last I’d heard he had a great workout early Thursday morning. Everyone sounded so hopeful. Wow!

    The term we use – or used to use anyway – is “bowed”. He injured his tendon (they’re calling it tendonitis), and although they’ve successfully treated some tendon injuries, it’s not a given even though the research and various attempts at repairing the tendon has been extensive. At this horse’s level of competition – and value – it’s both safer and more lucrative to retire him to stud which is what they’ve done.
