From Karin Kaufman:
Here is the full list of TNBT questions for you to copy and paste to your blog along with your answers. Just tag five awesome writers and add their links so we can all follow along.
1. What is the title of your book/WIP?
I've got three in progress (Seeing . . . ; . . . in a love song; and working title: Race), primarily working on Race right now.
2. Where did the idea for the book come from?
The Lord uses somewhat unusual inspirations for my novels. Seeing . . . is hard to pin down. It's kind of a contemporary Redeeming Love with a supernatural flair; . . . in a love song came from the Marshall Tucker Band's song Heard It in a Love Song; and Race had to be straight from the Lord because I never would've thought of it. What can I say?
3. What genre would your book fall under?
Seeing . . . : Contemporary Romance/Love Story
. . . in a love song: Contemporary Romance
Race: Police Procedural/Mystery
4. Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
Geez. Hmm. It's easy for some of my others, not so much for these yet. I'll let you know. 😉
5. What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
You're kidding, right? You're asking a saga writer to come up with a one-sentence synopsis?!
Seeing . . . Lonely truck driver who sees God's visions of people's lives in a mental snapshot meets abused woman who can't see any reality to God.
. . . in a love song Ramblin', gamblin', sweet talkin' ladies' man meets lovely virgin looking for real love.
Race Well-liked assistant trainer found murdered in his tack room bed along with two more attempted murders on the backstretch points to one common denominator.
Man!
6. Is your book published or represented?
Nope.
7. How long did it take you to write?
These are WIPs. And they ain't comin' easy.
8. What other books within your genre would you compare it to?
Seeing . . . is a contemporary cross between Redeeming Love (Francine Rivers) and Eyes of Elisha (Brandilyn Collins), you know: sorta. . . . in a love song doesn't really compare easily to CBA novels; Race I would love to say is a cross between J. Mark Bertrand's Roland March Series and Mark Mynheir's last two novels about an ex-cop turned PI, but this is my first effort at a police procedural, and these two guys are genuinely good at it.
9. Which authors inspired you to write this book?
Well, without sounding rude, I hope, authors don't inspire me to write books.
10. Tell us anything else that might pique our interest in your book.
I write real, authentic love stories. Not fluff. And gut-level spirituality. The police procedural includes some romance and the seamier side of the backstretch (horse racing) lifestyle, but ultimately it's redemptive. Always.
With the exception of Karin, who answered a couple of these questions on her blog in Part Two, these wonderful authors are waiting to be published and no doubt will be one of these days.
Father, you're the author of our words, our inspiration, our determination, our perseverance. Apart from you we can do nothing. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
