Into the Fire

Passionate thoughts about the world of writing and the Power of God

Today's "five" are questions for you.

Can you name your five favorite novels?

Do you know of five things that really irritate you?

Do you have five favorite beverages?

Can you think of five recent blessings?

Do you have five favorite sports' figures?

God, you've given us so much. Help us to be grateful. Truly and unabashedly grateful. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

Wow, Dayle. You cannot think of five recent blessings? Could you be more specific? 😉

    That’s cheating, Dayle! 😎
5 favorite novels? (as measured by books I’ve read numerous times):
Forlorn River & Nevada (Zane Grey), These Is My Words (Nancy E. Turner), Black Fire (Sonni Cooper–I think. It’s a Star Trek novel), any of the old Blue Spine Hardy Boys collection.
5 things that really irritate you? (hard to keep it to 5) *-):
    1. People who make noise (virtually the entire world as I know it)
    2. Rudeness
    3. Laziness/slothfulness
    4. Not putting things back where you got them (though this goes back to slothfulness)
    5. People who waste your time asking you things you’ve already covered just a minute before. (ie. telling a customer there are no appointments until October 15th and they immediately follow up with “Well do you have anything on September 20th?” ARGH!!!!!!!)
I could give you waaaaaaaaay more than five….
    5 favorite beverages?
    NOW: Water, chocolate milk
BEFORE HEALTHY LIVING: Dr Pepper, Dr Pepper, Dr Pepper
Can you think of five recent blessings?
This is a question I’m excited you asked. It seems like for years I felt the Lord has had it in for me–several long sucky years in a row that I honestly felt I wasn’t going to be able to survive. Thankfully, I’m in a stage where the blessings are pouring in:
    1. I just hit my goal weight after 5 months hard work and 49 lbs. lost.
    2. Related, I feel better then I have in a long time physically and God blessed me with some wonderful people to help me with that.
    3. I was able to buy myself a dozen yellow roses. That will sound really stupid to anybody else but I love yellow roses and for years I have not been able to afford to splurge and treat myself to this small luxury.
    4. Even though I’m freaking out about this burnout phase I’m going through with my writing, I feel I can concentrate more on my work with the Junior Highers in Sunday School.
    5. Despite how horrid and stressful my day job is, I work for the best docs and practitioners. They’ve enabled me to survive the stress for the last 10 years with that hospital.
(and then there are the blessings we take for granted–the joy of salvation, breathing)
    5 favorite sports’ figures?
Um no…don’t like sports, except for tennis, and don’t watch that much anymore. So only two: Stefan Edberg and Andre Agassi.
My response was 5X longer then the post. Sorry!

Love long answers, Brenda. Major congratulations to achieving your goal. Fantastic! And it’s good to hear you like the docs and practitioners you work with because I know you’ve wished you could do something else. Bet those Junior-highers are blessed to have your time. Thanks for taking the time to answer.

Agreed. The passing you up then put on the turn signal thing DEFINITELY goes on the list of irritants….
