Father, we need to be set free by the truth in order to write it. Help us to always look to you for reality. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

You nailed it, Nicole. Laying your soul bare is not for the weak of heart–you know people are going to read what you write and instead of just taking it for what it is–story–part of writing is readers trying to psychoanalyze the writer and figure out what they must’ve been thinking to have written that. I’ve read a few stories that made me think that.
So writing is ever just as simple as “I have this story in my head and need to get it down on paper.”

You’re right, Brenda, good stories are never that simple even when they’re of “lighter” reading. They have to have a pulse, and that beating heart comes from the author via the Holy Spirit. I agree with Athol’s response in that we do have to write what we want to read, what we like. Otherwise we’re trying to be who we aren’t and what we aren’t – just like the peer pressure days of school.
