Quick! Off the top of your head – and excepting cuss words – what words do you hate whenever you hear them or see them used in a story (but not in dialogue).

Here are a couple of mine:

Keen, keening (as in lamenting, not as in "peachy keen")

Issues (so overused in current times)

 

Father, let our words matter and be meaningful. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

    I don’t like the word “Actually”… I think it’s overused and often used in a statement that’s supposed to be a qualifier/surprise… but often falls flat.
    And this isn’t a word… but I go nuts when the Oxford comma isn’t used.
