Passionate thoughts about the world of writing and the Power of God

Donald Bellisario's typical season finales end in cliffhangers. If you've been a fan of his various hit TV series, you know this. So. Anyone have opinions on these two season endings for 2012 – 2013 episodes?

Good writers. Good series. Good season finales?

Father, please bless these cast members with the knowledge of who you are. Bless their talents and may they ultimately dedicate them to you. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

Can’t help you with these. I only watch Five-0. Haven’t seen any of Don Bellisario’s work since the 80’s with shows like Airwolf. He certainly is a lasting contributor in the field.

Yes, he is. Puts out quality television with very good writers. I love that he does the military with the classic tough soldier as a prominent character.
So. Five-O. I thought this season lacked good writing. Bringing back from the dead McGarrett’s mom hasn’t proven to be anything but annoying for me. I’m tired of never knowing whose side she’s on – like when she let Wo Fat go. I’m hoping this season is not indicative of future seasons. What do you think, Brenda?

Season 3 was not as good as Season 1. Season 2 had some tremendous episodes, but the entire season was cast into the dumper by forcing that useless Weston character down the viewer’s throat. At least having Catherine as a regular secondary character, she was built into the show from the beginning so has purpose, and she’s not annoying–I actually think Catherine has a lot of story potential to develop.
But yes, they seemed to struggle to find their good rhythm this season. And I agree with you on Doris. I cannot stand that character. I have yet to see even one ounce of remorse from her over the death of her husband. And in this week’s episode, when Steve put his integrity on the line for her, I was flabbergasted. Really the best thing they can do with the Doris character is kill her off and save us all some misery.
I really love Kono, but she has just been stupid this season. First she sleeps around and leaves her gun laying around for common criminals to get a hold of, then she clones her boyfriend’s phone and leaves it where he can get at it. I say they put her back on rookie status. 😎
Nevertheless, as long as they don’t bring Weston back, I’m in for season 4.

Kono has been stupid this season, and I love her too. But she’s involved with a potentially “ex” gangster who she doesn’t trust. What good can come of that? And I think Katherine has been treated like a throwaway character. McGarrett takes her for granted and their chemistry is dwindling in my opinion. I’m definitely in for the next season because I love the characters, but, geez, hopefully they’ll get some better writers because the scripts aren’t playing to these actors’ strengths. Not a good year for Five-O.
