Passionate thoughts about the world of writing and the Power of God

Summer

I'm a summer girl. Give me summer sun over winter snow any day of the week. I know there are those of you who think 70 degrees is about as hot as you like it. It's barely warm to me.

Give me Hawaii not Alaska.

Give me the ocean over lakes. A private swimming pool would be ideal.

Yup. Summer sun. Mmmm.

God, I love the beauty of all seasons, and I'm especially fond of fall. In these waning years I've decided I love hot summers with lots of sun. Thank you for it all. Every day. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

I’ve lived in the desert for 16 years now. When I first arrived, the summer heat was very difficult to endure. Now I find myself on the flip side. Last winter, a low-desert winter mind you, which is not at all cold by anybody else’s standards (maybe less than 20 days per winter below 40), I found unbearably cold–suffering cold. Conversely, last summer, I probably had my a/c in the car on maybe 5 times total. I’d much rather have the fresh hot air than the blast of cold.
It wasn’t until late May this year that my fingertips weren’t cold from walking the dog on those 4:00 a.m. walks. I just can’t take the cold any more.
So I’m happy to endure summer, and casting an eye toward fall with a bit of trepidation. I’m not really looking forward to having cold bones again.
I was joking last winter that everybody comes HERE in the winter to get warm. I need to find someplace warmer than AZ to get warm in winter. But I can’t think of anyplace that fits the bill other than Australia since their seasons are reversed. LOL!

Now, I’m the opposite. Give me a crisp winter day over summer heat any day. This year, most Minnesotans are complaining about the cool weather while I’m relishing it. Guess God placed me in the right spot. 🙂

Now here are two definite opposites! And if I had to choose, I’d go with the desert heat. Not fond of the bugs in either place, though!
Humidity can be a killer. So the dry heat is nice. Loved Hawaiian heat too.
Yeah, looks like both of you ladies are in just the right places. 😉

It’s funny b/c when I 1st moved here, I wanted to live in Flagstaff (7000′ elevation). Now you couldn’t pay me to live at that altitude. Nice to visit in summer yes, but not to live.
