Hmm…I’ll have to give this one some thought. A couple are easy–names from my favorite novel, ie. “Nevada” Jim Lacy, Ben Ide, and the unquenchable lad Marvie Blaine.
I have a hard time selecting names for my characters. One of my intentions all along has been to give my lead characters surnames named after a place in Arizona. Jake Payson being one of those. However I have not managed that naming convention with the lead character of my first book, but I’ve become accustomed to calling him by his assigned name, Bill Daniels.
    Choosing names is tricky.

Names just come to me. Good or bad, they just do. I can be shopping, watching TV, or driving, and names present themselves. More names than I have stories for. 😉 The last one I listed up there (Jarin Page, female), was named by parents who wanted different names for their kids, thus Jarin, pronounced Jar-in with the accent on in.
“Bill Daniels” works for old and contemporary. I like it.
