Passionate thoughts about the world of writing and the Power of God

If I could write any story, it would be about ________________.

If I could meet anyone in this world today, it would be _______________.

If I could change anything about Christian literature, it would be _______________.

If I could go anywhere in the world, I'd go to _______________.

If I could buy anything, I'd buy ___________________.

Give the long or short answer(s). Up to you.

Father, help me to be content with who, what, where, and why in you. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

If I could write any story, it would be about loyalty and friendship of people who face tough times and pull other people up with them during Arizona’s territorial years (oh yeah, the ones I’m working on! LOL!)
If I could meet anyone in this world today, it would be Charles Stanley (well I’ve already met him, but I’d like to be able to sit down with him and REALLY talk, not just say “nice to meet you”. Second choices would be George & Laura Bush.
If I could change anything about Christian literature, it would be to switch it from a 99/1% split romance/other to 50% romance, 50% other so that I can find lots of interesting fiction to read.
If I could go anywhere in the world, I’d go to Arizona. Oh wait. I’m there. 😎 (but there are plenty of places in our beautiful nation I’d love to go too–Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, South Dakota, Texas, etc etc etc.)
If I could buy anything, I’d buy a nice spacious home for myself, so that I had a nice spacious cabinet/counter space laden kitchen for fixing healthy food, a huge living area to convert to a complete and sensational home gym to use for myself and to train clients, another room for writing/painting/drawing pursuits, room for lots of bookcases, and every room spacious and uncluttered with a heavy emphasis on uncluttered. (I don’t ask much do I?) 😎

Great answers, Brenda. Not much left for me to say. Really good answers. I like that you’re writing what you want, where you want to be, and I like your choice of people, and I love the desire for a house and what you’d do with it.

If I could write any story … well, we can write any story we want! And I plan to, whether it’s one that fits the market or not. Maybe the better question for me would be, what story are you itching to write?
If I could meet anyone in this world today … honestly, I’m blank at the moment. Famous people don’t intrigue me that much. I’m more interested in the everyday heroes God puts in our lives.
If I could change anything about Christian literature, it would be to make the stories more authentic. All too often I can’t relate with the hero/heroine–they don’t come across as real.
If I could go anywhere in the world it would be to Israel. Actually stepping where Jesus stepped would be a surreal experience.
If I could buy anything it would be a plot of land along Minnesota’s north shore, a cliff-side lot that overlooks Lake Superior. That would be a little slice of Heaven.
    What are your answers, Nicole?

First, Bren, what is that story you’re “itching to write”?
Okay. I’d write the story of Mitch Rapp’s true love, how they meet, etc. Makes me sad now.
Johnny Depp so I could tell him about the reality of Jesus. (Rush Limbaugh is a close second along with George W. Bush.)
I’m with both of you ladies on this. Reduce the romance percentage (even though I write it/love stories) AND make it more authentic, more real. Of all the places in CBA literature where things in general don’t seem authentic, it’s in the genre which they produce the most of.
Two places at present: the big island of Hawaii and Australia.
A custom Linwood home built on five or so acres in . . . TBD.

Well, the original hook for my story was, “An attorney defends an Adult Bookstore’s right to build across from the church where his father is the pastor.” Due to unlikely legal aspects, the idea is morphing, and it’s not quite settled. Yet.
The idea initially came from a news story that showed a church demonstrating against an adult bookstore that wanted to move in next to them. My reaction was, “The sinner wants to live right next to you, and you’re asking them to leave?”
So, that’s the gist of the story. I even have an attorney who’s volunteered to help me sort through legal aspects. 🙂 Now I just have to nail the concept down.
Yeah, not exactly CBA material, but why should this story be different from anything else I write? 😉

Oh, and I’d love to read your version of Mitch Rapp meeting his true love. You should just do it. I’d read it!

Ah, Bren, I wish I could. It would definitely have to be a collaboration because I don’t have access to the sources I’d need. The sad unwritten story. Suffice it to say I know who she is. I could write her and them, but I’d need details I just can’t mine.
I like it, Bren! And, yeah, we’re in the same boat. Very cool you’ve got the attorney’s help. Do it, girl!
