Five

Five things that make me laugh out loud:

Good slapstick comedy (Think Lucille Ball, John Ritter, Carol Burnett)

A good joke

A clever parody

Some exaggerations

Great spontaneous wit

How 'bout you?

Father, thank you for good hard laughter. It's so freeing to laugh. And thank you for your sense of humor. You'd have to own one to put up with some of us. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

John Ritter! I sure do miss him. My all time favorite Three’s Company episode was one of the early seasons when Janet asked him to fly to a nearby island to help her make a potential suitor jealous. He was afraid to fly & took some of Larry’s tranquilizers. The result was the funniest episode of the series. 😎
Other things that make me laugh:
    1. Dogs and their goofy antics
    2. God–I can’t help but laugh sometimes at the irony of things He points out to me about myself mainly but sometimes other things.
    3. The Bible–as you mention, God definitely has a sense of humor, and when we read about some of the historical figures in the Bible and how those accounts are written, you can’t help but laugh sometimes. Thinking in particular about some of Paul’s wording in the New Testament and also accounts like Elijah (I think it was Elijah) vs. the army of false god prophets and some of the things he said to them while they were competing to see whose God was the real one.
    4. I’m a sucker for a corny joke.

Oh! How could I forget. Along the lines of slapstick, the 80’s comedy “Perfect Strangers” (Larry & Balki) was brilliant for slapstick comedy. That was an awesome show.

Perfect Strangers was indeed funny in its first few seasons.
I particularly remember an episode of Cosby where John Ritter played a coach, I think, whose wife was due anytime. His antics when she said she needed to go to the hospital and once she got there were hysterical.
I don’t think anyone who remembers Lucy will ever forget when she and Ethel worked in the chocolate factory.
Yeah, Elijah taunting the false prophets was good. Then he ran like a little girl from Jezebel. Haven’t we all succeeded and failed in the Lord just like that?

I always get a kick out of word humor, like:
“We’re having the senator for dinner.”
    “Hot or cold?”
I don’t know why, but that sort of humor has always made me laugh more than just about anything else.

    Karin,
That reminds me of a very funny one I heard recently that just cracked me up:
Two cannibals went out to dinner.
“I don’t like my mother-in-law,” said one cannibal.
“Then just eat your vegetables,” said the other.
    LOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!
