Passionate thoughts about the world of writing and the Power of God

So where does your mind go when it needs to escape from writing? We never fully escape. We wind around what we're working on, but we can't really get away from it. Once it's done, far easier to set it aside for the "aging" process. To remove ourselves from the finished product is a relief. We know we've accomplished what we set out to do, and we can rest in that. But, oh that nagging story that's not yet done.

I'm meandering. Can you tell?

Father, get me back to it. Really you're the only one who can. Please. Or let me settle into your timing. Whatever you want . . . In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

Go ahead and meander–that’s what writers do, right?
For me to escape writing, there’s nothing better than losing myself in a fun movie (I’ll take any Avengers movie). Like so many writers, I don’t dissect the movie to figure out why it works–or doesn’t work–that would steal all the fun and wouldn’t be an escape at all.

Thanks, Bren, but I wish I did less of it.
I love a good movie too. I watched The Tourist again the other day since I was home alone – truly an escape film. And, unless the agenda overshadows the film, I just enjoy it the first time through. And I read – as I know you do.
But when the nagging persists, I need to get back to it or nothing works after awhile for my meandering mind.

Brenda, I know what you mean. Sometimes more than others.
