Passionate thoughts about the world of writing and the Power of God

I can tell you what several of the direct inspirations were for my novels. One was the result of a word from the Lord. Another was from the burden of prayer for a particular actor. Another was formed from the words of a song. And others came from characters who announced they wanted to be in a story.

What inspired you to write your stories?

Father, you're the ultimate source of real inspiration. Apart from you, I can do nothing. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

One simply from doing research and the spark of an idea. Another b/c of the flushing of the economy and wanting to write a story where the common man came out on top. Most of the others would fall under the category of “What the world needs” fiction. Observing the decay of families, and writing stories that show families (in whatever form) fighting for each other. This has tended to emerge in the form of son fighting for father, or conversely father for son, and also frequently the family type bonds of best friends and the trials they face. Loyalty and stick-to-it-ness tend to be big themes for me.

A lot of times it’s news stories that inspire me. I want to know more about what happened in their lives. What brought them to this point of making the news? A story is birthed from that.
