Five pair of boots. The long and short of them. Yes, you have to have the legs for the long ones. I love them all. I used to have a pair of black thigh length calfskin boots with a flat heel. Loved them. Had to rig a belt through the loops at the top under my dresses to keep them snugly up, but I didn't care. And I never would've warn them like the top model. Mini-dress, yes. Micro-mini. No. Those boots were awesome. And I was 20 years old at the time. I have two pair like the short ones in these pictures, one brown, one black. I have a pair of black mid-calf leather boots and one pair of black knee-high boots with a high heel, two pair of boots used to exercise Thoroughbreds, one brown, one black. So. That's this Friday's Five.

Lord, you've put up with me for so long. How grateful I am for that. Thank you is never enough. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

Well, growing up in Illinois I got so sick of HAVING to wear boots because of the weather, that I was so glad to move to California. Now I live where the winters are long and harsh and must wear boots again.
I have 4 pairs and only wear them when the weather dictates it.
    – black “dressy” boots with a 2-inch heel that come to the top of my calf and are probably out of style because I bought them in 2006
    – brown casual knee-high boots with flat heels that look good with a casual dress or skirt
    – brown casual ankle-high boots
    – rugged super-warm knee-high boots to wear with jeans
I would love to be able to wear sandals year round, and even with our short summers, I have 6 pairs of sandals and only 4 pairs of boots!

My genetic code is minus a desire for fashion boots. I only wear them when needed for utility–ie. a pair of hiking boots. Since I love westerns, you’d think I wear cowboy boots a lot. But while I do have a pair somewhere in my closet that I bought many years ago when I was able to go on vacations, I find boots to be very uncomfortable.
Now a collection of tennis shoes? That’s a different story. 😎

Brenda, that might make it to a future Friday Five.
Deb, I only wear my boots when weather prevails. I love them, though. Love boots. Wish I had more. 😉

How about bare feet? 🙂 I avoid boots & shoes as long as I can. Even in the winter, if I’m not outside, I’m not wearing shoes or socks. My feet weren’t made for shoes–there just aren’t well-fitting, nice looking shoes in my size. As my dad used to tell me, if I hadn’t turned under so much, I’d be tall (I’m only 5’9″).

Bren, I can understand the need for foot comfort, but my feet rarely go barefoot. Only once in a great while in the house and in the sand on a beach. Gotta have something on my feet – even if it’s just flip-flops. It’s always been that way. I had a close friend in grade school who always went barefoot. The bottoms of her feet were stained – that scarred my impressions of going barefoot. 😉 Actually, going barefoot is uncomfortable for me.

Oh no, I cannot go barefoot. Not even in my apartment. Like Nicole, I just don’t find going barefoot comfortable. Even at home, I largely have my tennis shoes on because I get up and walk a lot inside my apartment too. Or I wear sandals.
