Into the Fire

Passionate thoughts about the world of writing and the Power of God

Really don't care for the dark accented wood (again contrasting with the cabinetry), but this is an interesting combination of designs. I love the ceiling, the floor, the size, the chandelier, and the glass doors on some of the cabinets – but not my favorite. Feels "off" to me. Too much contrast and "busy-ness".

God, you create something for everyone and inspire all good things. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

It doesn’t rank as my favorite but I like the warm colors. Could ALMOST learn to like the glass enclosed cabinets. Nice ceiling.

Looking at it again, I think what makes it look off is the little tiny bricks of flooring–whatever it’s made out of. If it were long continuous planks of wood or faux-wood, but in the same warm tones, I think it would give it a whole different feel.

I really don’t like the dark wood contrasting with the lighter wood(s). And then the “column” to the left of the range is yet another color and texture with the different wall décor above it and to the rear around the doors. It’s too “busy” and contrasting for me. I like the brick floor and think everything else should complement the ceiling and floor.
Deb, you’ll not like this one with the range far away from the sink – can’t even see a sink in this one.

Yep. Too much. The wood ceilings make it feel claustrophobic, don’t care for the brick floor, and the intricate details on the cabinets. They’d be a bear to clean! And I’m not a fan of white or whitish cabinets. But, I love the size of the island.

Oh, it was so busy and contrasting that I didn’t even notice the sink was “missing”! Way too much going on!
It kind of looks like the designer couldn’t decide what style to go with. We’ve got open shelves, brick floor, wood ceiling and island cabinetry that look casual. Then we’ve got fancy cabinetry, glass-fronted cabinet doors and marble counter tops that look fancy. There’s always next week:)

Bren, I do agree the ceiling needs some skylights or something, but I like the wood. And I too like the size of the island, just not the wood color.
Deb, I agree: it looks like a huge mixed message of designer overdo. And I also agree – because of all that’s going on I forgot to look for a sink.
