Into the Fire

Passionate thoughts about the world of writing and the Power of God

Suffice it to say I've become a summer person. Love the sunshine and warmth. The color of skin from the fresh outdoors. The fall is lovely, melancholy, and of all the seasonal clothing, autumn colors are my favorites to wear – besides my Seahawks' attire.

I'm learning the winds in our new residence. Since we have no shortage of the stronger gusts at times, I've discovered the east wind is the most severe and threatening. Not fond of the east wind. Neither is our dog.

Our view is  a 360 degree setting of God's beauty in His creation. Rural, a robust view of Mt. Rainier dressed in its neon winter white, green pastures, the foothills and Evergreens dusted with snow, that white speckling encroaching on the lower elevations.

Officially we're easing into winter but it's already here in spirit. The temps have dropped in our area into the 20s. The wind chill is a definite factor this evening as the flags whip around their pole and extend their banners straight out, flapping their protests.

I do appreciate each season, the variance, the clarity, the symbolic messages in each one. There is a purpose . . .

Father, thank you for the incredible beauty, your overwhelming generosity, and your endless love. Apart from you, I can do nothing. Thank you. So much. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

I’m sure the views are beautiful. It’s odd really–I think before I was born I was programmed to seek the mountains (most people seem programmed to seek the beach). My entire family still lives in MD where it is completely flat and featureless. I’m the only black sheep who moved away–1st to the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina, then on to my true home in Arizona and my beloved Superstition (plus many more) mountains. I can’t NOT have mountains–it’s like oxygen–required to breathe.
Just as the desert is beautiful, so are the alpine mountain regions. But gosh, I just couldn’t take the cold.
It has always been on my bucket list to visit Glacier National Park in Montana. But when I finally do, it will be in summer. When it’s at least a LITTLE warm. LOL!

Sounds so beautiful, Nicole! There’s nothing like have front row seats to God’s creation! I’m a country girl at heart, stuck in the suburbs right now, but someday I’ll get back to having the window view of nature rather than homes. It’s certainly what my heart longs for. 🙂

I apologize for my late responses, but the internet was down all day until a telephone tech helped me get it all fixed. Thank the Lord the young man was patient with this non-geek.
I love it all: ocean beaches, mountains, forests, lakes/waters, but I prefer the country over everything and we could not have prettier views. This home was built to gaze at Mt. Rainier, and it’s a beautiful mountain – a deadly one too. Many climbers have lost their lives on it.
I would enjoy seeing the Arizona desert, and I would appreciate the heat for awhile. I, too, can’t take the cold but prefer the dry 20s to the ultra-wet 40s any day. 😉 Our low temps are supposed to warm and of course following that will be the rain. This evening they’re saying snow is coming for a short stint. A little early around here for that. I prefer it up on the mountain and in the foothills where I don’t have to contend with people driving in it who shouldn’t be. :/
I hope one day, Bren, I can share this home/view with you in your travels.
