Passionate thoughts about the world of writing and the Power of God

    Musings

So I was wondering . . . what kind of marketing do I, as a reader, like? When an author introduces a new release or debuts their first novel, what do I expect, what do I want to see, what don't I want to see?

With indie publishing it's more difficult to get a book into the world of readers. Word of mouth or relationship must exist between the reader(s) and the author in order to make people aware of the novel. Goodreads, Facebook, Twitter, are a few places where readers can find their new and/or favorite authors. If they hear of a new writer, they can check out Amazon or other places for reviews.

If you prefer not to read reviews, where do you choose to look for new reading material? Are you subscribed to various book promoter notices? Do you receive Book Bub suggestions?

Your . . . musings?

Father, help me to be what you want me to be and to do what you want me to do. In the present and in the end that's all that matters. Thank you is never enough for what you've done for me. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

Facebook or Instagram are probably where I hear about books I want to check out, but those two mediums don’t help me much when it comes to marketing. 🙂

Bren, you do a good job of marketing. You post things to your Boosters, you make it easy to share your author and blog posts, and you don’t go overboard on the me, myself, and I have new books out. I think you do it just right.

That’s good to hear. I try to keep it balanced, but when a book releases, it feels like it’s all about me.

That’s the hard part, isn’t it? We have to let people know about the new book, but when is enough, enough?
