Winter looks like this is some places. Not where I am – at least not yet. How do you feel about snow?

Father, you gave us the seasons, and they all serve a purpose and look differently all around the globe. Your creativity is endless. Thank you for it all. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

We’re having a snow drought in the Minneapolis area this year (while other areas of the state are normal or are getting more snow than average). I don’t mind the snow–actually like shoveling it! There’s little more beautiful than fresh fallen snow and snow-flocked trees!

It’s definitely beautiful in its first stages – no argument there and the silence that accompanies it is a treasure. Out here, you have the skiers, mountain pass truckers, and the SUV/4X4 drivers. Whenever there is substantial snow, you can count on serious accidents by all of them – especially in our mountain passes that keep the two sides of the state united. In heavy snows, we’ve had people abandon their cars on Interstate 5 that becomes a weird and variable parking lot.
I had an accident where I pulled over after work on the top of the last hill one and a half blocks from our house figuring I could walk the rest of the way in the snow due to a pile up at the bottom of the hill. I pulled over, turned off the car, started to get out, and the car proceeded to slide down the hill becoming the fifth car in the pile up. I had driven several miles from work at 20 mph with little or no traffic (the snow arrived all of a sudden and added up quickly and too fast for the road crews in the evening) with a no-wheel drive beater (years ago) just to insure I’d make it home. So, now, even with a 4X4 I don’t welcome the snow. Usually, we get very little of it. I’d rather look at pictures of it.

I think snow is pretty, especially at night with a full moon.
I don’t like driving in it at all.
Lots of folks enjoy playing in it, and I enjoyed how much our sons enjoyed it! We went sledding and cross-country skiing with them. I enjoyed watching them snow boarding when they were older.
I used to live where it never snows, and I didn’t miss it at all.

I agree, Deb. I’ve never lived where it never snows – I’ve been in Washington state my whole life, but I’m always grateful when we make it through a winter without snow. We have easy access to it – if I wanted to take advantage of that (which I don’t). 😉
