Into the Fire

Passionate thoughts about the world of writing and the Power of God

Five "fetishes" – or things I collect way too many/much of:

Sunglasses – I have more than I can wear and have even given some away. I love them!

Flashlights – I love small bright flashlights! Black and all colors.

Guns – Yes, I love guns. (And, no, I don't have too many or even a bunch.)

Knives – I have never used a knife defensively, and I'm clumsy with them, but I have several that will fit in my purse if I so choose.

Shoes/Boots – Believe me when I say I used to have way more than I do now, but there's no denying I love them.

(I left out books on purpose because, you know, that's a given.)

Father, thank you for them all. Thank you for the unique desires, pleasures. Apart from you, we can do nothing – not even enjoy the life you've given us. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

Yes, wisely leaving out the topic of books, otherwise my collection of things is surprisingly small:
Notebooks. I have more notebooks then I can go through in 5 years, nevertheless, I love to collect them. Nothing fancy. I like simple spiral bound school notebooks to use for writing and life. I avoided steno pads for the longest time because it’s too much of a reminder of my day job (which has now gotten away from steno pads) but they are handy for tracking the 12 million things you have to do every day.
Scrub Pants: It’s not so much large collection as fetish. I LOVE Cherokee Workwear 5 Pocket scrub pants. They should be required wearing for EVERYTHING, including work. Those and a good baggy pair of coach shorts with deep pockets. Clothing life should revolve around those two items and big baggy T-shirts with custom statements (like one of my current favorites: “Introverts Unite! — Separately in Your Own Homes”) 😎

    Hahahaha!
I could’ve easily included notebooks – for me: spiral with Seahawks covers. Then I “save” them and rarely use them!
