Into the Fire

Passionate thoughts about the world of writing and the Power of God

Five things I love about fall:

The colors – lots of maple leaves changing their hues, autumn flowers

The clothes – I love greys, browns, blacks, winter coats, boots, but not sweaters

The local Washington State Fair (aka the Puyallup Fair) – it's a tradition for us

The crisp mornings – the fresh smells

Okay, the melancholy – strange, I know. Saying goodbye to summer is hard for me, but that feeling I get from the onset of autumn is unique . . .

Father, you gave us the seasons each with its own kind of beauty. I'm grateful to experience them in spite of my preferences. Help me to appreciate them all. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

Fall is my favorite! I love the colors and the smells and the cool air! I love wearing jeans and sweatshirts … and bare feet. I love having the windows open wide, chasing out the stale air, replacing it with fresh.

I know for Washingtonians who don’t appreciate any temps over 75, they welcome fall and even winter. I’ve always loved fall, winter not so much, although I’d rather have cold temps and less rain. Not a fan of snow. Too many around here cannot drive in it – even in their 4 X 4s. Sigh. Compared to here, your winters are brutal – and summers can be too. Here, we’ve got basically mild temps comparably in all seasons.
I have a friend who prefers bare feet too, Bren. 😉 Not me. Ever. Never have.
