Passionate thoughts about the world of writing and the Power of God

 Character

So, novel readers, consider all those books and stories you've read. Of all those fictional characters which one(s) do you most identify with? Who is your mirror image at heart? Who do you most relate to? Who comes closest to who you feel you are? C'mon now. Who are you in the fictional realm?

Father, help us to be the one you designed us to be. And help us to see ourselves in others when and where it matters. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

Trixie Belden! While other girls my age were loving Nancy Drew (which I read, too) I devoured Trixie Belden books. She was a farm girl, a hard worker, a tomboy, had annoying brothers and loving but strict parents, and (unlike Nancy Drew) she was far from perfect.
To this day, my favorite heroines are the far-from-perfect ones.

Wow! That was decisive, Bren. I’m still wobbling between several and then trying to pinpoint who of my characters I could be – of course there’s a mixture there. 😉

Kate in “Stepping Heavenward” by Elizabeth Prentiss. Though written in a different time than mine, I related very much to Kate’s thoughts. I read it when my children were small. It’s written in diary form, and soon after getting into it, I forgot it was fiction.

Sounds amazing and touching – as are you, so I can say I’m not surprised.
