Into the Fire

Passionate thoughts about the world of writing and the Power of God

    Black-friday-1059924_960_720

So, for fun, or out of boredom, and for whatever reason, let's do these:

Driving: mostly hands at "10 and 2", single right hand on wheel, single left hand on wheel? Where are your hands for your average driving position?

Walking: long stride, short stride, meander, fast, slow?

Showering: sing or not to sing?

Laughing: loud, boisterous, giggle, breathless?

Listening: good at it, bad at it, attentive, tempted to interrupt?

Talking: fast, average, slow, low voice, high voice, louder when excited?

Feel free to answer, add your own descriptions. Or not.

Father, thank you for silliness, laughter, fun, seriousness, attention, wisdom, grace, and mercy. All of it. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

Driving: I start at 10 and 2, then if it’s a no-traffic, straight road and a longish trip I end up at left hand only on the wheel.
Walking: short stride due to my short legs and I try to go fast because it’s my only exercise and it’s often cold here
    Showering: no singing
Laughing: either boisterous or a single giggle, depending on how funny it is.
Listening: Friends say I’m good at it. I’m best at it when someone is telling me their bad news and I don’t know what to say. I’m bad at it when I need to learn something new, and it’s long and complicated. I’m attentive when I’m interested. I’m tempted to interrupt my husband if I think he’s wrong, and I’m tempted to interrupt anyone if I don’t like what I think they might say.
Talking: speed is average heading toward fast, low voice, louder when excited.

I’m so like you with talking and the interrupting part of listening although I, too, have been told I’m a “great listener” which I do try to be. No good at long complicated instructions either. Need to take notes if I have to learn something. I can have a boisterous laugh, occasional giggle, but just LOL if something’s really funny.
Rarely do I do the “10 and 2”. Like almost never. Very occasionally I might do the “11 and 4”, but, sshhhh, I mostly drive one-handed, alternating hands (usually at “4” and “7” with right/left respectively). Never singing. Walk fast, medium stride. Average speed talking, low voice, and louder when excited too. 🙂

    Driving: typically 10 – 2
Walking: I have a long stride, but I’m not fast. Probably meander more than anything.
Showering: Music is always going through my head, but I don’t sing because anyone in our house could hear it. 🙂
Laughing: Probably more of a chuckle.
Listening: Pretty good at it–and I’ve had many random people spill their life stories to me–but have plenty of room for improvement.
    Talking: Slow, low-voice, thoughtful.

Wonderful answers, Bren. I suspect those in your house would be blessed to hear you singing. 😉 “10 and 2” is just uncomfortable for me.

It’s amazing how alike we are! I think Brenda’s laughter being a chuckle is more the word I was looking for when I said single giggle.

Deb, it’s so funny because I think “chuckle” fits Bren’s personality perfectly. I would say I can be a bit too “noisy” when I laugh. When something strikes me hysterically funny, I’m a snort-er. The only time I might “chuckle” is when I read something on Facebook, etc. that strikes me as moderately funny. But even then, there are those LOL moments. 🙂
And, yeah, we definitely have similarities. 😉
