   Old Yeller was the first movie (at home) I watched with the man who is now my husband. I knew what a softy he was when he bawled. 🙂
   I haven’t hated a lot of movies, don’t know that I’ll think of five, but I’ll give it a try:
   Terms of Endearment – went to this with my mom and sisters–we all hated it and couldn’t understand the draw.
   Steel Magnolias – maybe I just don’t like the sappy women’s movies! With Shirley MacLaine…
   Gone Girl – made the mistake of seeing this with my 2 oldest kids thinking it was just going to be a thriller. Yikes! My kids were in or near their twenties, but I still wanted to cover their eyes several times during the movie.
   Sponge Bob SquarePants Movie – the things we do for our kids! When the boys were young, I took them. They still owe me!
   Independence Day: Resurgence – Soooo bad after the original was soooo good!
   Wow, I did it!

   I’m one of those people who hate to quit a book or movie without finishing it to the end. I actually watched these through but regretted my lost time afterward.
   Avatar – had to be one of the dumbest, preachiest movies I’ve ever seen! Nothing like getting all your liberal viewpoints shoved down my throat in nearly a 3 hour long diatribe. Definitely needed an editor:)
   Out of Africa – OH MY WORD! I take it back. This one was the longest, most boring movie ever!
   English Patient – Second longest most boring movie ever!
   (see the trend? Movies that win awards and are critically aclaimed are not often my cup of tea)
   Girl with a pearl earring – Wow! I didn’t think Colin Firth would ever grace a movie so mind-numbing that I could barely get through it, but this one is basically about nothing, very little dialogue, and it seems to be some insane person’s idea of “art.” Absolutely pointless.
   Lord of the Rings (all of them)- yes, I know this is probably controversial but true for me. We went as a family when my kids were in middle and high school and I realized then that fairies, hairy footed creatures, old dudes with long white hair and staffs, creepy little bald guys, and moving trees were not for me. Those scenes of running across the country and battles with whatever, etc… it just went on and on, right? I know many people loved them. Sorry for offending any LOR idolators.

   Barbara: hahahaha! I don’t think I’ve ever watched one of the LOTR movies to the end – just bits and pieces here and there. Good choice. Not even my style. At all. Refused to watch Avatar for the very reasons you listed – and, again, “fantasy” or whatever it’s called: not for me. I vaguely remember seeing Out of Africa, and “boring” probably fits it well. Didn’t see the other two on purpose.
   Bren, I was weeping in the theater. Just a little girl who loved dogs. Killed me. Didn’t see your first four but do remember hearing about Gone Girl – how it was . . . not a nice movie. (Reminded me of another more recent film I didn’t like: Gone Baby Gone.) Saw part of I.D.Resurgence at home – recently actually – but not the whole thing. The first one was good.

   I can only think of one. Once the VCR was invented, we pretty much quit paying to go to a movie.
   Power Rangers in 1995. I took the boys and they probably liked it. I thought it was so lame.

   Hahaha! I probably would’ve thought so too, Deb, but my guys probably would’ve liked it. The only time I go to see a movie now is if it promises to be a good one – usually like a thriller (i.e a OO7 flick or a Mission Impossible) just because it’s so exciting to see them on the big screen.
