Passionate thoughts about the world of writing and the Power of God

If you could meet your favorite novel character, who would it be? You may pick three of each male and female. Go! (Authors, you may not pick your own . . . this time.)

I know I can't get away with not naming mine. So they will be no surprise to most of you, but it's really, really hard to limit the males to just three. Ready? (You know I'm going to have to cheat, don't you?)

Mitch Rapp  Roman Velasco (aka Bobby Ray Dean)  John Milton and Cole "Tox" Russell are tied.

Raleigh Harmon  Grace Moore  Rachel Hatch and Ham are tied.

Your turn.

Father, please bless your writers/authors. May each one know that you are the giver of all gifts good and perfect. Apart from you, we can do nothing. Thank you is never enough. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

    Hmm, thinking …
Mitch Rapp, Patrick Bowers (Bowers Files by Steven James), Nick Polchak (The Bug Man series by Tim Downs)
Hadassah (Mark of the Lion series), Trixie Belden, Jane Eyre

I forgot about Patrick – yes, I would agree. Ah, the Bug Man. Yeah, he would be farther down my list, but he’s an amazing character.
You know me, Bren: contemporary all the way so of course my females are all modern day.

And I definitely prefer contemporary, but for some reason, no particular female character sticks out to me. Perhaps because there are few serials about women (that I read, anyway). Raleigh Harmon is about the only one I know. I wonder why that is…

You and I like male characters even though we do write some good female characters. For me, the men have to be real men – and I could care less if that offends anyone. We want to see strength with a touch of vulnerability in their character – at least that’s how I describe it. I forgot to list Raleigh’s Jack – I do like Jack. He’d be right behind John Milton and Tox, I think.
