What was your favorite thing to do as an elementary age child?

Do you remember what you used to watch on TV when you were a child?

Was there a movie you saw as a child that made you cry? As an adult?

Did you have a favorite actor when your were a child?

Do you remember your best friend(s) as a child?

Did you ride a bike when you were a child? Do you remember what kind and color?

Did you ever read The Black Stallion novels when you were young?

Do you remember a particular injury you got as a child and how you got it?

What was your favorite year of elementary school?

Did you have a "worst year" in your years of school?

Is the elementary school you attended still there?

Did you play an instrument?

Did you do sports?

In all of your years of school, what was your favorite event?

Father, thank you for getting me through school. You helped me to do well and have fun even though school was never my favorite thing. I'm sorry it took me so long to find you, Jesus, but thank you for rescuing me. I'll always be desperate for you. Thank you is never enough. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

favorite thing to do as a child: SO MANY things (dolls, reading, playing office, piano, going to school, indoor and outdoor games with my family)
watched on tv: Flinstones, Partridge Family, Brady Bunch, Gilligan’s Island
cried watching Little Drummer Boy as a child and, as an adult, Empire of the Sun (children separated from their parents always got to me)
favorite actor when I was a child: don’t think I did, but I had favorite tv characters
best friends as a child: Rhonda and Lisa
first bike was a blue Schwinn which I loved to ride
never read the Black Stallion novels but I loved reading the Misty novels (Chincoteague, Stormy)
slipped on the gym floor and got 3 stitches in my chin
favorite year in elementary school: 6th if I had to pick but I enjoyed even the toughest
worst year if we’re talking elementary was 2nd
My elementary school building was turned into apartments 10-15 years ago
    I played the piano.
No sports for girls back then, just 5th and 6th grade boys’ basketball with girls as cheerleaders, and I was shocked to make that squad both years. Boys and girls in 5th and 6th grades were all participants in the annual track and field day.
My favorite event in elementary school was the 5th and 6th grade operetta. We had an amazing and inspiring music teacher.
I was so blessed to walk to school and have loving, supportive parents and many kind, dedicated teachers.

Beautiful childhood, Deb. You radiate a good life.
That’s funny. I never read the Misty books because I wanted a horse, not a pony. Never wanted a pony, so horses and their stories got all my attention.

Play horses and go camping with my BFF’s family.
The Rifleman, Fury, Lassie, My Friend Flicka, and other westerns.
Old Yeller, I was literally bawling in the theatre. Many as an adult, but Dances with Wolves sent me to the restroom uncontrollably bawling and sobbing when they killed the wolf – and the horse? I can’t remember. I hid my eyes for most of the rest of it. I went with my husband who loved the movie – most people I know who saw it did too.
Johnny Crawford (The Rifleman’s son.) and Debbie Reynolds (Tammy and the Bachelor.)
    Debbie and Verna
I had a blue Schwinn and loved riding it too!
    All of them!
As a child, it was mostly skinned knees over and over again. My parents were beginning to think something was wrong and almost took me to the doctor. Ha! Just clumsy, I guess. And, of course, played hard outside all the time.
    Definitely 6th grade.
My worst year not only of school years but of life was 7th grade. Hated it. That in-between where I still wanted to be a kid and everyone else wanted to grow up. I had an accelerated math class that just didn’t make any sense to me, I started biting my fingernails (and haven’t stopped), and I got the worst hair cut of my life! Yeah, horrible.
My elementary school is still there and is now confirmed as an historical sight so it still stands. We had our 6th grade reunion there a few years back. So fun.
    No instrument. Can’t sing either.
Loved volleyball in high school and basketball – especially refereeing both sports. Did enjoy your sport, Deb, but never was able to get time to be any good at it (tennis).
    Graduation.

What was your favorite thing to do as an elementary age child? Read, sing, ride bike, walk around the farm with my dog.
Do you remember what you used to watch on TV when you were a child? Saturday morning shows! Scoopy Doo, Jonny Quest, H.R. PufnStuff, Land of the Lost
Was there a movie you saw as a child that made you cry? As an adult? Not a crier, but as a child “I Will Fight No More Forever” made a huge impact.
Did you have a favorite actor when your were a child? Probably Bobby Sherman, but I can easily say my favorite artist was Donny Osmond. Still love his voice!
Do you remember your best friend(s) as a child? Fellow farm girls, Virginia, Kathy
Did you ride a bike when you were a child? Do you remember what kind and color? I rode all. the. time! Around the farm, around our country roads. To town. To parks. No clue what my first bike was, but I remember a gold bike…
Did you ever read The Black Stallion novels when you were young? I did not.
Do you remember a particular injury you got as a child and how you got it? Oh, yeah. I won’t go into details because it was gory. We were playing push-off-the-dock at a friend’s house, in the middle of a lake, and the bottom of my foot got caught on a protruding nail. Nuff said…
What was your favorite year of elementary school? 4th, 5th, & 6th were all decent. I had teachers that, even then, encouraged my writing.
Did you have a “worst year” in your years of school? Probably 7th grade. That’s when we moved from elementary school to high school, and all my friends from grade school deserted me.
Is the elementary school you attended still there? No it is not.
Did you play an instrument? I played decent guitar.
Did you do sports? Not organized sports–my brothers got all the athleticism in our family–but, being a family of 9, having neighbors with large families, and cousins with large families, we did a lot of backyard sports. I loved softball. Our boundaries were the shop/garage and the tractor sheds. If you hit the barn, it was a homerun. 😀
In all of your years of school, what was your favorite event? I really don’t have a lot of favorites or fond memories from school. Choir was my favorite activity. Didn’t have close friends and was teased a lot. I like your graduation answer! I was very happy to be done!

Ah, yes. Loved reading and making clothes for my paper dolls. We used to make blanket tents in our back yards in the summertime and sit in them and read our novels of course. 🙂
Great answers, Bren. Yeah, school has never been my thing but I did have some really good teachers.
