I’ll often mention Pepsi, Minnesota, and hot cocoa in my books. 🙂
I’m also specific about the vehicle a character drives. It has to fit their personality. I once read a book where a manly man drove a VW Bug with the vase in the front. No explanation. It didn’t fit the character and actually made me like him less. 😀
Hairstyle also has to fit the character, if mentioned at all.

Vehicles definitely have to fit the character. I don’t blame you with the VW bug guy. Hahaha! And of course I love long hair on men provided it’s clean, not stringy, etc. Maybe it’s because I grew up in the late 60s and 70s. But you’re right, it always has to fit the character. I don’t really know why hair makes its way into my character development, but it does. I think all of my protagonists have long or longish hair except Michael Jamison in Breath of Life.
THE most beautiful long hair I’ve ever seen, bar none, and not exclusive to either sex was my husband’s when he wore it down to the middle of his back (many years ago). Dark, almost black, natural wave, shiny, clean. All he had to do was wash and towel dry it, and it would hang perfectly! Amazing hair. Now of course he wears it short – still great hair.
