Into the Fire

The cliché tells us "The truth hurts." Yes, at times it certainly does. When something you've believed to be defined in a certain way for a serious amount of time dissolves like dirt in soapy water, it's not only unsettling or humiliating, it can often hurt. When you're betrayed by a friend or someone close to you, the truth of the betrayal cuts like a razor blade. The truth is that there are all kinds of truths that can hurt. 

However, there are some beautiful truths that when discovered bring joy, happiness, contentment, fulfillment, satisfaction, encouragement, inspiration, redemption, and trust. 

I do believe there are some who would rather believe something other than the truth if that truth will somehow radically change the life they've chosen for themselves. And because they resent the truth in this particular circumstance, they will deny it, fight it, ignore it, and resolve not to believe it.

Just because someone doesn't prefer the truth or doesn't like the truth or resents the truth, the truth still remains the same. Firm, factual, final. You can dispute the truth, but it changes nothing about the truth. Truth doesn't bend, it doesn't even break. It stays the same. 

In the end the plain truth wins.

John 14:6 

Father, you are the Truth and you display it, make it available, and function solely by it. Thank you for that. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
