Murder by Eggnog is Book 2 in A Kelsie Butler Mystery Series by Cozy Mystery Queen Karin Kaufman.

The Cozy Mystery genre is a unique selection of bona fide mysteries with clever sleuths of different ages and quirks, persistent characters who never give up on solving "their" mystery no matter how intrusive they have to be to get the results that solve their queries. Often getting into trouble with the local law enforcement conducting investigations, their pursuit of the culprit never withers no matter what they're instructed to do which is usually to "Back off!" And you can always count on one thing: the murder is going to be bizarre with plenty of suspects and a few with good motives.

It's Christmastime and Kelsie and her older friend Angela are attending a mystery club meeting at "The Mapleton", an apartment complex for senior citizens. Bringing cookies and eggnog, Kelsie is anxious to attend and discuss the books these older friends of Angela's enjoy. However, almost immediately the members of this group become snide and snarky with each other after one of them who is guzzling the eggnog (Diane) expresses some weirdness that's been going on in her apartment and causing her distress. Turns out, no matter how unpleasant their remarks seem to be, some of them have a reason or two to be upset with Diane.

It isn't long after the meeting when a terrible event occurs at The Mapleton, and almost immediately afterward Kelsie and Angela are compelled to investigate – always with the help of Gwen who operates the divine pastry and coffee shop (Fig's) and Lauren who works at the botanical shop where local gossip is the first language heard there.

From assumptions and suspicions to startling information and too many suspects, the solving of the mystery seems improbable and then impossible, but Kelsie and her friends never give up, and Kelsie's sharp eyes provide just the clue they need.

Don't hesitate to keep going on the Kelsie Butler Mystery Series. Clever and quirky with both fun and not-so-fun characters, dog-lovers and good friends. You can't miss.

Father, I pray you'd continue to give Karin the stories you have just for her to tell. Please bless her body, soul, and spirit as she writes and creates. Please provide exactly what she needs to do what you have for her. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
