Into the Fire

Passionate thoughts about the world of writing and the Power of God

  • Edge of Honor by Brad Thor is the 24th book in A Scot Harvath Thriller Series.

Scot and Solvi have just spent 6 months touring the world on their honeymoon. Almost instantly upon their return to Scot’s home, each one is called into a fury of chaos. A NATO summit is soon to happen in DC, but a shocking outbreak of incredible violence draws Scot and Solvi out of their “retirement” bliss.

This “story” is about the “Deep State,” the buyers and sellers of information, propaganda, and the traitorous spirits of those in high places – the bitter seekers of unlimited power and influence over and in this country and the world.

With more dead-ends than an endless cul-de-sac, the search for reason, logic, and origins of the diverse forms of chaos lead to numerous deaths and ratchet up the fear factor in the nation. With the FBI, CIA, and Secret Service all under suspicion, Scot and a former CIA man do their best to sort out the alphabet soup of who all is involved and who is at the helm of it all.

That should be enough information for you fans of Scot Harvath to pick up this very good thriller which is indeed a thriller. Highly recommend this one!

Father, please continue to bless Brad with insight and knowledge to write these stories. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

  • . . . And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men, for not everyone has faith. But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.

    2 Thessalonians 3:2-3 (NIV)

  • We honor your service to our country, your sacrifices to do so, your determination to serve.

May you experience firsthand how much America needs and loves you.

Father, please bless those who serve and have served their country. Let them know how much they’re appreciated and honored. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

  • Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Do not put out the Spirit’s fire; do not treat prophecies with contempt. Test everything. Hold on to the good. Avoid every kind of evil.

    1 Thessalonians 5:18-22 (NIV)

  • Then Jesus asked them, “Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they remained silent.

He looked around at them in anger and, deeply distressed at their stubborn hearts, said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was completely restored. Then the Pharisees went out and began to plot with the Herodians how they might kill Jesus.

    Mark 3:4-6 (NIV)

  • Therefore, my brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

    1 Corinthians 15:58 (NIV)

  • Be very careful, then, how you live – not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.

    Ephesians 5:15-16 (NIV)

  • Devoted Vince Flynn/Mitch Rapp readers, who went back in time with Vince to his prequels American Assassin and Kill Shot, watched Mitch fall in love with the gorgeous Greta Ohlmeyer. Don Bentley decided there needed to be some kind of resolution to that segment of his life.

Multiple conflicts are happening between Latvia and Russia, and Rapp is being blamed for killings he didn’t commit. Acting DCI Stansfield is at war with Congressional Committee members and someone is leaking classified information to the Russians.

There are necessary targets to neutralize in multiple locations, but an experience in an art museum with Greta leads Rapp to do what was once the unthinkable to him: enlist the help of his former instructor Stan Hurley.

Stan was more than ready to assist and with his boatload of information and sources, the two of them set out for Tunisia to get even more.

Meanwhile back in DC, Stansfield sends the only person he truly trusts (Irene, Rapp’s handler) to the Moscow Station to evaluate the condition of the staff and “leadership” at the US Embassy there. Events happen quickly upon her arrival with Irene given an unceremonious message to relay to Stansfield that reveals an old score to be settled.

There are multiple angles going on in this story – hard-hitting enough to keep the reader engaged and working hard to keep up. They all come together eventually.

The Epilogue of Denied Access is one of the finest conclusions I’ve ever read. Before I go on, I will say in all honesty I’ve read thousands of novels from some of “the Classics” to a few that were waste-of-words drivel. Don Bentley positively nails this epilogue by capturing and revealing the one and only REAL Mitch Rapp.

The story is great, but the Epilogue is true excellence.

Father, please continue to bless Don and his family. May he always look to you for his direction and protection and continue to use the multiple gifts you’ve given him. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
