Alright, I have a tendency to be very serious about things–at least on this blog. Well, today you get a break. I’m going to tell you a few things I don’t like. So be it.
1. Daylight Savings Time–saying I don’t “like” it is a rare compromise because “don’t like” doesn’t even come close to the way I feel about messing around with people’s time clocks. When I used to have to get up at 4 AM, I felt sick for that first hour of the morning, and it took me at least 2 months to get my body caught up to it.
2. Unmaintained websites–if you can’t manage them, pay somebody to keep them updated or get rid of them. My goodness, I “don’t like” turning to an author’s website to read the most current info is from 2005. Blogs are a different thing–you can let people know you only post occasionally and they won’t expect much and will only “tune in” once in awhile. If marketing departments think an author should have a website and the author has no desire or ability to maintain one, then have someone in marketing do the upkeep.
3. The old Converse tennis shoes–you know the ones (mostly black canvas with white laces, although they do have colors now that people tried to make them “cool”). My husband insists he has to have some just like when he was a kid (oh wait, he’s still acting like a kid). I told him they were ugly, and now instead of being a bargain, since some people think they’re “in”, they’re way overpriced.
4. Mud. Yeah, mud. Everyday I have to tramp through it to feed our horses in the shed. More than once I’ve stepped out of the rubber boot and into the slimy gooey stuff with my sock. Icky, icky, icky.
5. House cleaning. Yeah, “don’t like” doesn’t begin to cover it. When I cleaned stalls (race horses’ habitats), they were immaculate. Not so with the house. Oh well . . .
Five’s enough, don’t ya think?
God, thank you for a sense of humor, for the wonderful ability to laugh at oneself and, yes, even others when it isn’t hurtful. There’s nothing like a merry heart to rid the moment of pain or sorrow. Thank you for the joy of Jesus, even when there’s desolation, there is hope in you. I love you, Lord. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
