The high pitch—up high—scream, probably a call.
Sun pierces my gaze, blinding me from partial sky.
Aahhh, there it is. Soaring. Turning perpendicular!
Red tail with streaming sunshine lighting it up.
A song all its own, command of the air currents.
Confidence in the swerving rotations. So high.
The hundred foot cottonwood held its home,
Raised its offspring. The child-like cries echoing the adult’s call.
Magnificent in its being. Simple. Audacious.
Sharing it silently with God’s appointed season.
Just an observer, respectful of the power.
To fly in the heavens—life’s call.
Lord, thank you for the stunning life you’ve created on this planet. I am in awe. So often. Grateful to participate. Privileged to belong to you. Undeserving. Transformed by your Blood. Jesus, thank you. Holy Spirit, make me better. In all ways. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
